Edward James O’Donnell

Age 89, of Channahon, IL and formerly Chicago, IL, died peacefully Saturday, September 29, 2018.  He was born November 4, 1928, to the late Edward and Dorothy (nee Connelly) O’Donnell, in Chicago where he was raised and educated, and was a graduate of Fenwick High School.  He was a proud U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean War.

Edward was the beloved husband of the late Patricia (nee Stenson); loving father of John (Therese), Trudy, the late Timothy (2018) and James O’Donnell; proud grandfather of 7; great grandfather of 5; dear brother of the late John C. (Geri) O’Donnell; and the fond uncle of several nieces and nephews.

Ed retired from T.H. Ryan Carthage after 34 years of dedicated service.  After retirement, he relocated to Montello, Wisconsin, where he was a proud member of the “Marquette Strings” band.  Proficient with several string instruments, primarily the guitar and banjo and occasionally the ukulele, Ed was also a member of the “Recycled Teenagers”.  Seeking warm winters, he moved to Surprise, Arizona and enjoyed new friendships there for several years until he returned to the Midwest, living his last few years in Menomonee Falls, WI.

Memberships included the Teamsters, the former CTDU, the American Legion, the VFW, the Masonic Lodge and the DAV.  He was also an avid fisherman.

As it was Ed’s request, cremation rites have been accorded.  All friends and relatives are invited to gather Friday, October 12, 2018, at 11:15 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W.
