Obituary of Thomas A. Offermann
Thomas A. Offermann, Sr.
“Ralph” “Toz” “Ace” “Chuckie”
Age 75, of Crest Hill, IL, died peacefully at home with his family at his side, after a short bout with cancer, on Saturday, October 6, 2018. He was born on September 22, 1943, to the late Marge and Clarence Offermann in Joliet, and was a lifelong area resident. A proud member of Local 150 I.O.U.E, he retired at age 62 after over 35 years of dedicated service with Diamond Construction.
Tom loved fishing in Canada with his pals and family, as well as trips to the family cottage in Sheridan over the past 25 years. He also enjoyed a cold beer, Malnars Tap-his favorite watering hole, a good couple shots of bourbon (with bitters) and the yearly vacations at Swamp Lake in Wisconsin. We will miss you always and forever Tom!
He is survived by his true love, Gloria (nee Gollick), with whom he shared 56 years of bliss. Gloria will miss the phone call from her “big daddy” telling her he’d be home soon, that he loved her and, “Oh yeah, what’s for dinner?” Also surviving are his sons, Greg (Pam), Jeff (Penny) and Joe (Mara) Offermann; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Denny and Gary (Linda) Offerman“n”; sisters, Sue (Ken) Bolte and Claire; as well as many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Tommy, Jr. (2000).
Visitation for Tom will be held Wednesday, October 10, 2018, from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at 10:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
