Obituary of John J. Alberico
John J. Alberico
“Johnny”
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother and uncle Johnny. Although he had been bravely battling cancer the past year, he died unexpectedly at the age of 53 on Friday October 12, 2018 after suffering an apparent stroke.
Born July 9, 1965 to the late Ida (nee Amoroso) and Peppino Alberico, Johnny attended Joliet Grade Schools and graduated with the class of 1983 from Joliet West High School where he was a spirited member of a talented wrestling team.
Surviving are his sister, Christina (Nicholas) Egizio; two brothers, Anthony (Janice) Alberico and Frankie Alberico. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Luciano Alberico and his niece, Mya Tinajero.
Johnny was employed by Romar Cabinet Co. for over 30 years. He enjoyed his co-workers and when he was younger was a member of the Romar softball team at the Joliet Park District. Throughout his life, Johnny was a “team player” and always proud of others’ accomplishments, especially his nieces and nephews. He will be sorely missed, but forever happily remembered for his timely remarks and the sense of “belonging” you felt when around him.
Johnny was an avid bowler and a loyal fan of the Cubs, Bears and Bulls. He was also a loyal friend.
Visitation for Johnny will be held at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet on Monday October 15, 2018 from 3-8 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday October 16, 2018 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
