Irene M. Heitzman
(nee Skiniotes)
Age 91, of Joliet, IL, passed peacefully Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at Sunny Hill Nursing Home. She was born January 12, 1927 to the late George and Mary (nee Kapellas) Skiniotes.
Irene is survived by two daughters, Bernadine McMahel and Susan (Bill) Cox; son-in-law, Joseph Walters; grandchildren, Michael (Kimberly) Denson, Scott Deininger, Brian Deininger, Lauren Deininger, Irene (Olafuyi Alli-Balogun) Walters, Zoe Walters (Christine Riesgo), Jared (Alexandra) Sileven, Sarah (Aaren) Vaz, William (Camille DeMarco) Meister and Jordan (Megan) Meister; great grandchildren, Kirsten (Travis) Leclair, Ryland Denson, Tyler Deininger, Makayla Deininger, Camden Deininger, Medina Alli-Balogun, Seth Walden, Lydia Vaz, James Short, Eliah Runyan, Zeila Meister and Kylie Sileven; her sister-in-law, Geraldine Skiniotes; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Heitzman; two daughters, Mary Lauterbach and Carol Heitzman-Walters; and siblings, John (late Rita) Skiniotes, Nick (Jearlene) Skiniotes, Alice (late Pete) Passas and James Skiniotes.
The family would especially like to thank the staff of Sunny Hill for the devoted care, exceptional kindness, and love shown to Irene during her time there as a resident.
Funeral services for Irene M. Heitzman will be Friday, November 3, 2018, at 8:45 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 102 N. Broadway St., Joliet, where services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Trisagion Services at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to All Saints Building Renovation Fund would be appreciated.
