Obituary of Kevin Frank Wendt
Kevin Frank Wendt
Kevin Frank Wendt, of Joliet, passed away on Monday, November 5, 2018, at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, surrounded by love at the age of 57. He was born in Chicago, IL, on May 21, 1961, the son of Harold and Helen (nee Muhs) Rosenbaum/Russell. Kevin grew up in the Midlothian area and attended Bremen Township High School. He relocated with his family to the Joliet area in 2001 and has been a dedicated driver with UPS for over 20 years.
Kevin was a very personable guy and made friends easily wherever he went. He was a father figure to many of his son's friends, whether he was teaching them to fish, work on cars or throwing a football around, he was always there for them. He enjoyed serving as Den Master of Pack 116 in Richton Park, IL. He had a great sense of humor and always had a smile on his face, that is, unless the Bears were losing! When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends in the backyard for a BBQ. Kevin was the "go to, come through for you" guy. No matter what, you could count on him in a time of need. If there was room on the sofa or floor and you needed a place to stay, you were guaranteed a roof over your head and food in your belly. His presence will be missed by all that knew him.
Kevin is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Dawn Kimberly (nee Sanders) Wendt; his children, Brian Amato, Brandon Wendt, Brady (Krystal) Wendt; grandchildren, Jordan Wendt and Julian Nelson; his siblings, including his twin brother, Keith (Vicki) Russell, Edward (Andrea) Russell, Carol (Nick) Rauba, Kenneth (Barbara) Decker; his wife’s parents, Ronald and Shirley Shieu; brother-in-law, Curt (Jackie) Sanders, sisters-in-law, Terrie (Mike) Akai , Eileen Shieu and Sherri Sanders. Several nieces, nephews, verbally adopted kids, dear friends, too many others to name, also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, August Decker.
A Celebration of Life for Kevin Frank Wendt will be held by the family at a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted under the care and guidance of the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet.
