Obituary of Daniel T. Speckman

Daniel T. Speckman, 73, of Joliet, passed away peacefully, Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Symphony of Joliet.

Born June 10, 1945 in Joliet, he was the son of Daniel H. and Viola (nee Watts) Speckman, and was a graduate of Joliet Township Central High School, Class of 1965.  b He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant, and worked as an airline pilot for the former Midway Airlines. He also served as a Will County Auxiliary Deputy for a short time.

Dan loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, fast trucks, and going by the nickname “Speed”.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Deva C. (nee Costello) Speckman of Joliet; his devoted daughter, Heidi (Jerry) Outlaw of Minooka; one sister, Joyce A. (Bruce) Stejskal of Joliet; two nieces, Jennifer Stejskal and Juliette (Eric Benuska) Stejskal; and two great nephews, Chase and Gage.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Judith A. Groff.

The family would like to thank The Symphony of Joliet and Joliet Area Community Hospice for Daniel’s outstanding care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice or the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Squad would be appreciated.

Graveside services for Daniel T. Speckman have been postponed and will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded under the auspices of the United States Air Force and the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Squad, at a later date.
