Melvin “Mel” McFarland

Age 65, of Posen, IL, and formerly Joliet, IL, died suddenly, Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Metro South Medical Center, Blue Island, IL.  He was born January 15, 1953 in Joliet where he was raised and educated, a graduate of Joliet Central High School, Class of 1971.

Mel is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Judy (nee Estes) Cortese-McFarland of Posen, IL; one son, Clinton McFarland; one daughter, Marion McFarland; one granddaughter, Sidney McFarland; his mother, Marlyn (nee Travillion) McFarland; one brother, Darrell McFarland, all of Joliet.

He was preceded in death by one daughter in infancy; his father, John McFarland; two sisters, Cornelia McFarland in infancy and Renee McFarland.

Mel retired from Commonwealth Edison in 2008, after many years of dedicated service, as an electrician.

Funeral services for Melvin “Mel” McFarland will be held Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at 12:00 p.m., at the Fred C.
