Obituary of James L. Jenkins
James L. Jenkins, age 60, of Joliet, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2018 at Christ Hospital.
Born July 4, 1958 in Joliet, he was the son of Leroy and Olive (nee Deskins) Jenkins, and was a graduate of Lockport Township High School. He worked as a tool and die maker for General Motors in Willow Springs, IL and Marion, IN, retiring after 32 years of service. Jim was a proud member of AFLCIO Local #977 and an active official of the union.
Jim loved to travel, fish, and spend time with his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed sports and his favorite teams were the Atlanta Braves and the Green Bay Packers.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 36 years, Donna J. (nee Humphrey) Jenkins; three sons, Chad (Sherri) Jenkins, Joshua (Elizabeth Vasquez) Jenkins, and Jared (Kristin) Jenkins, all of Marion, IN; grandchildren, Cayden, Logan and Lucas; his mother, Olive (Terry) Davis of Matthews, IN; one brother, Robert Jenkins; one sister, Cynthia (Jim) Daffara; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; and one granddaughter, Ruby.
A Mass of Christian Burial for James Jenkins will be celebrated Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., at the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, 604 N. Raynor Avenue, Joliet, where visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Cremation rites will be accorded following services and interment will be private.
