“Larry”
Age 74, of Joliet, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 25, 2018, at his late residence, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Larry was born in Joliet, the son of the late Ettore and Jemma (nee Fenili) Zanelli. He grew up in Lockport, and was a resident of Joliet the past 55 years. He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army. Larry and his two brothers owned and operated Home Roofing Co., retiring in 2009. He was a former president of the Belmont Athletic Club and Belmont Little League.
Lawrence is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Angela (nee C. deBaca) Zanelli; his children, Lawrence (Lorie) Zanelli, Jr. of Shorewood, Wendy (Edward) Theres of Justice, IL, Kimberly (Marilyn) Zanelli of Plainfield, Lori (Terry) Campbell of Streator, Yvonne R. Romero of North Ogden, UT, and Jennifer C. McCarthy of Romeoville; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sisters, Diane (Tom) Carr of FL, and Lorraine (the late Wayne) Cheviron of Joliet; and brothers, Edward (Bonnie) Zanelli of Joliet, and Richard (Nola) Zanelli of Joliet. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Adeline Hahn and Phyliss Zanelli; and his uncle, Lewis Fenili.
Visitation for Lawrence E. Zanelli, Sr. will be held on Sunday, December 30, 2018, from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 31, 2018, at 9:15 a.m., from the funeral home chapel, to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, 604 N. Raynor Ave., Joliet, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery where full Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Squad.
