Christian N. Smentek
“Chris”
Age 46, of Plainfield and formerly of Chicago, passed away suddenly Sunday, January 6, 2019, at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center. He was born in Chicago, the son of the late Richard “Rich” Smentek, Sr. and Berniece “Cookie” Smentek, residing in Plainfield since 2007. Chris was an accomplished musician and member of the band Panic 12:52. He was an avid sports fan and autograph collector.
Chris is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 25 years, Kim (nee Koziol) Smentek; the pride of his life, his two children, Summer and Sebastian Smentek; mother, Berniece “Cookie” Smentek; siblings, Louie (Olga) Smentek, Rick (Kelly) Smentek, and Nick (Jen) Smentek; brother-in-law, David (Cristina) Koziol; beloved uncle of Kaitlyn, Skylar, Tyler, Camden, Ryder, Logan, Madison, Joseph, Philip, Lydia and Isabel; and great uncle to Autumn. Many cherished friends also survive.
A Memorial Gathering for Chris Smentek will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019, from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet.
