Obituary of Alicia E. Guzman
Alicia Elvia Guzman, (nee Granados), age 79, of Joliet, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center, with her loving family by her side.
Born March 17, 1939 in Mexico City, Mexico, she was the daughter of Tranquilino and Trinidad (nee Garcia) Granados.
She married the love of her life, Miguel S. "The Boss" Guzman, and they enjoyed 48 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2005. Alicia also lost two of her beloved children, Mari Guzman Flores in 2012, and Michael W. “The Guz” Guzman in 2018.
Surviving are her devoted and loving children, Laura Guzman, Elizabeth Guzman, and Mark Guzman, all of Joliet. Also surviving are three precious grandchildren, Emmanuel, Marisol and Nicholas Flores; a large extended family in Mexico City, Mexico; and many dear friends.
Alicia will be remembered as a caring and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who placed the needs of her family above her own. She was a member of the Joliet Spanish Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Consistently facing life’s toughest challenges with grace and humility, Alicia drew strength from Jehovah God. At a young age, Alicia accepted that true happiness came from faith first; others second; self last. She also appreciated the healing powers of chocolate, retail therapy and the perfect dance partner. Known as the couple most likely to “abrir el baile,” Alicia and The Boss polished many dance floors and graciously hosted countless dear, lifelong friends in their humble home.
Alicia’s most important mission in life was to love well and be well loved. Mission accomplished, Alicia.
