Obituary of Elisabeth Eldred

Elisabeth Steward Eldred Age 90, late of Crest Hill, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at the Inn at Willow Falls. Elisabeth received her Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from Beloit College, and her Master of Arts from the University of Wisconsin. She retired from Joliet Township High School in 1980 after many years of teaching. She was a member of the Altar Guild of St. Edward's Episcopal Church, Pi Beta Phi Fraternity, the Woman's Study Club, and the Gamma Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society. She was also a member and past president of Chapter DS of P.E.O., was a life member of the National Education Association and National Retired Teachers Association; a member of the Illinois Retired Teachers and Joliet Retired Teachers Associations, and the American Association of Retired Persons. Surviving are her nieces and nephews, Sara W. Cohen of Oak Park, Kimberly (Steve) Cawi of Virginia, Linda (Fred) Hardin of Bolingbrook, Jack D. (Deborah) White, Jr. of Skokie, and Charles E. (Jasmine) White of Texas; eight great-nieces and nephews, Lance White, Adriana Cohen, Rebecca Cohen, Andrew Cohen, Constance White, Christopher Hardin, Eric Cawi, and Elisabeth Hardin; and one great-great-niece, Madison Paige White. Preceded by her parents, Dr. Charles D. and Lela (nee Jimison) Eldred; her sister, Bernice E. White; and her brother, Charles D. Eldred. Memorial Services for Elisabeth Steward Eldred will be held Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Edward and Christ Episcopal Church, 206 N. Midland Avenue, Joliet.
