Obituary of Donna L. Hanchett
Donna L. Hanchett
(nee Scaggs)
On Friday March 22, 2019, Donna L. Hanchett, age 78, of Morris, passed away peacefully at Park Pointe Nursing Home, with family by her side. Donna was born in Wyoming, IL and raised in Kewanne, IL. When she was just a young teen, she met George Hanchett, the love of her life and husband of 58 years. They moved to Streator, IL where they raised their 3 children before relocating to Morris, IL just two years ago. She attended AIC Business School in Davenport, IA and was a graduate of Kewanee High School, Class of 1959. Donna was a homemaker and last worked as a secretary for State Farm Insurance in Streator. She was a member of the Streator 1st United Methodist Church. In her free time, Donna enjoyed country dancing with the Bootkickers group, playing cards, and traveling with George. But Donna’s greatest joy was her family. She never wanted to stay over a couple weeks on a winter getaway, preferring, instead to be near her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded by her parents and one sister, Agnes “Aggie” Dewalt.
Donna is survived by her loving and devoted husband, George Hanchett of Morris; one daughter, Shelley (John) Maubach of Morris; two sons, James (fiancé Christine Guisti) Hanchett of Streator and Joe (Debbie) Hanchett of Bloomington, IL; four grandchildren, Kurt and Ashley Maubach and Ben Hanchett and Heather (Eric) Even; one beloved brother, Jim Scaggs of Kewanne; two nephews Mike and Tommy DeWalt and brother-in-law Tom DeWalt.
