Obituary of Daniel J. Murphy Sr.
Daniel J. Murphy, Sr., age 73 late of Channahon, formerly of Burbank, IL passed away Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center.
Dan was born in Chicago, on June 13, 1945 the son of the late Ronald and Louise (nee Larkin) Murphy, raised in South Chicago, residing in Channahon the past two years. Dan was a United States Army Veteran, serving in Germany. He Retired from McCormick Place as the Supervisor of Security in 2013. Dan was a war time history buff and an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
Surviving is his loving wife of 50 years, Patricia (nee Last) Murphy of Channahon; his three children, Dan (Lisa) Murphy Jr. of Delaware, Patrick (Melissa) Murphy of Channahon and Erin (Craig) Wegner of Channahon; five grandchildren, Mikayla, Mason, Avery, Jack Murphy and Jaclyn Wegner; two nieces, Kathleen (Eugene) Ritchie and Michelle (Ken) Bobek; his brother-in-law, Greg (Rita) Last; three nephews, Kevin (Laura) Murphy, Timothy (Angela) Murphy and Richard (Tricia) Last.
Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronald (Margaret) Murphy.
Visitation for Daniel J. Murphy Sr. will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads., Joliet. From 3:00 P.M. until time of funeral services 7:00 P.M. with full military honors, under the auspices of the United States Army. Interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be appreciated.
