Obituary of Debra Rae Burns
Debra Rae Burns
(nee Sayers)
At the age of 68, Debra Rae Burns passed away suddenly as the result of an undiagnosed heart condition, at Silver Cross Hospital with her loving husband at her side. She was born in Joliet and was a lifelong Joliet and Mokena area resident. Debra’s entire world revolved around taking care of her family, especially her grandkids, which she cherished. Debra cared for everyone around her, it was her nature. To the very end, she donated the gift of sight to someone who she will never meet.
She was preceded by her parents, Raymond C. and Ima Jean (nee Butts) Sayers and her grandparents, who she visited at the cemetery regularly and left flowers as a tribute to their memory.
Debra is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, David J. Burns; three daughters, Tammy (Steve) Platek, Tracy (Dave) Rymarcsuk and Tana Kestel, all of Mokena; five grandchildren, Scott, Ashley and Emma Platek and Madison and Hailey Rymarcsuk; one sister, Gail (Robert) Brady of Brainerd, MN; and two nieces, Kena Sievert of Riverview, FL and Kelly (the late Jeff) Lardi of Wilmington.
As it was Debra’s request, private funeral services were held at the funeral home chapel on Friday, May 31, 2019. Cremation rites were accorded following her services and final interment will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Heart Association or the Will County Humane Society in her name would be appreciated. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home. For more information, please call 815-741-5500 or visit her Memorial Tribute at www.fredcdames.com
