Obituary of Barbara Finney

Finney, Barbara J. (nee Korell) "Barb" Age 80. Peacefully, Thursday, April 5, 2012 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home with her family by her side. Born in Joliet, she was a lifelong Joliet area resident. A proud graduate of St. Joseph School of Nursing Class of 1952. Retired from the office of Dr. Wayne S. McSweeney, as his office nurse, after over 28 years of service. Preceded in death by one daughter, Jane Ann Finney in infancy (1958); her parents, George and Catherine (nee Scholtes) Korell. Survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Gene H. Finney of Joliet; one daughter, Aleta Finney-Pavnica of New Lenox; one son, Brent A. ("Tricia") Finney of Plainfield; her very special niece, Betty J. Rostan of Joliet; four grandchildren, Shane M. Slovick, Andrew and Stephen Pavnica, and Rachel Marie Finney; sons-in-law, Michael D. Slovick and Mick Pavnica; three sisters, Joyce M. (late Alex) Stacy of Shorewood, Nancy Taylor of Coal City and Suzette Korell of Joliet; one brother, Laverne (Lois) Korell of La Porte, IN; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral Services for Barbara J. Finney will be Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel with Fr. Pete Jankowski officiating. Private interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
