Bernice K. Witkovsky

Age 59, of Matteson, IL passed away Monday, August 26, 2019. She was born in Chicago, IL June 4, 1960.

Beloved mother of Tim; loving daughter of Catherine "Kay" Lassiter; dear sister of Marty, Beverly, Joseph, Randy, Edward, Ann Marie, Tamie and Charles; fond niece of Jim (Helen) Cranston, Bernice (Jim) Gidney and Jerome Witkovsky.  Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Bernice, a registered nurse enjoyed a long career serving the most critical.  She never winced, always feeling the need to care for children enduring difficult illness. Her compassion knew no bounds and her motherly instincts comforted many youngsters over the years.

In her free time, Bernice enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and playing scrabble on line.  Competive as she was, card games could get heated pretty quickly, however her quick wit could calm down those on the other end of perhaps a "bad hand".  

One of her proudest moments was receiving her RN certificate.

As it was Bernice's request cremation rites have been accorded.  All friends and relatives are invited to celebrate her life on Sunday September 15, 2019 at the Rock Pavilion in Kankakee State Park from 12 Noon until 4 p.m.
