Obituary of Shirley Fish
Shirley E. Fish
Age 86, born in New York City, NY, she was adored by everyone who knew her. A lifelong contributor to her hometown community of Joliet, through charitable works for the Joliet Jewish Congregation and Holocaust Education Program in area schools. A voracious reader and a passionate thinker, at age 82, she enrolled in a doctoral program at Spertus College of Judaica Studies. Ever a thoughtful person, always interested in learning and engaging with the world, she and her husband visited over 70 countries. She opened her home and her heart to visitors to the community and to lifelong friends, of which she had many. Her warmth and generosity of spirit, her piercing intellect and abiding interest in others will be sorely missed.
Beloved daughter of the late Sophie Shaler and sister to the late Martin Aronowitz.
Best friend to husband Louis; devoted and involved mother of Raymond (Andi) Fish, Paul (Tessy) Fish, Elaine (Michael) Janks, Ronald (Linda) Fish, and Deborah Hill; adored grandmother of Brad Fish, Lisa (Randall) Roddy, Ryan (Kim) Smith, David (Dana) Fish, Isaac, Aarlo, Hugh, and Avery Stone Fish, and Jacob Hill; loving great-grandmother to Taison and Hudson Roddy, Ben, Abby and Nate Fish, Natalie and Nicky Smith.
