So saddened to hear of your dad's passing! I just heard the news today or I would surely have attended the services. I was telling someone about a month ago about the day Jean and I were driving around with your dad showing us where the JJC campus was being built. It was staked out and you could see all the trucks moving equipment and materials to the site. He had told us to take a good look, that it will make history. I didn't understand it at the time until after graduating from JJC and sitting in a class at ISU where the instructor commented on JJC being the first junior college in America. I was floored! Only then did I realize his profound words all those years earlier. Your dad was my Accounting teacher and then he was my supervisor as I taught evening classes at the Main campus. He was certainly a class act! So dedicated to his work and to all people in every way possible. You have every right to be so proud of him as he was such an exceptional man! My sincere condolences to the whole family.

I talked to John Coradettii for 20 minutes in my entire life. It changed my life!!
I attended JJC in 1978 and 1979 as a business student. John was the Department head then. I never had him for an instructor. I transferred to Eastern IL University and graduated in August of 1980. That November I approached John about letting me teach a Management class.
I had no real world experience in business or teaching, I had not been a particularly exceptional student and there was not a posted opening even to apply for. Yet, a few days later, I got an offer to teach a Management 101 class in Morris.
John took a chance on me when there was very little reason to do so. I believe he did so because he believed in young people and could see the passion and drive they can have. He could tell it was something I really wanted and that would help guide me. Forty years later I am still teaching classes for JJC.
I am forever grateful to the man who took a chance on me. It is his trust in me that still inspires me these decades later.

I enrolled in John Corradetti's accounting class at Joliet Junior College 51 years ago. I was very impressed with his class. I went on for my bachelor's degree in business education at Northern Illinois University. When it came time for student teaching, one of the courses I taught was "accounting." I soon realized that you do not learn to become a teacher as the result of just classes and special methods courses. It is the result of sitting in the class of a master teacher and attempting to emulate that teacher when it becomes your turn. John Corradetti was truly that master teacher.
I will always be grateful to John Corradetti for being there when I attended Joliet Junior College--sometimes you just plain get lucky! John was the best. Rest In peace John Corradetti. You will always be remembered and appreciated..

I was an adjunct instructor of economics at JJC for many years with John as my department head. I remember him as being kind and considerate to me. He always had an open door where one could visit him and be treated as an equal. He was a very impressive man who supported his department members. May his family find peace.

I had the pleasure of experiencing John as an accounting instructor at JJC. He was definitely one of the best educators that I’d ever encountered. I was doubly blessed in that John was my department head and mentor when I returned to JJC to instruct accounting and taxes. He will be fondly remembered in both my thoughts and prayers.

I remember Mr. Corradetti with such fondness. I went to JJC and also worked there after in the Business Office for a while. He was such a good man. Such a kind man. I wish I could go to the wake, but I will be working, still at the college. Please accept my condolences. I will be praying for your family.

When I started teaching in January of 1980, John became my "boss" as department head, but he also became my mentor and most importantly my friend. John was totally committed to the college, his students, and his colleagues. He worked endless hours for many issues that would make the college a better place for all that came there. He made a big differences in my life and I am a better person because I knew him. Those who knew John also knew the devotion and commitment that John had to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He beamed with pride as he talked of them.
My deepest sympathy to his family and all his friends. He left an indelible mark on everything he touched and will long be remembered for his work and his humanity to all of us. Rest in Peace John.
