Obituary of James Fox
James R. Fox
Age 66, of Shorewood, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, Sunday, June 14, 2009 at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora. He was born in New York City on August 12, 1942 to the late James P. and Kathryn (Daly) Fox, he was a longtime resident of Shorewood.
Beloved husband of Maureen P. (Thoen); loving father of Maureen Stabler, James, Mary (Michael) Butter, Anne (Thomas) Gasperec, Brigid (Shaun) DeBruycker and Sheila(Eric) Roberts. Proud grandfather of Sean and Catherine; Virginia and James; Abigail and Hannah; Emily and Eileen; Andrew, Nicholas and Samuel; Liam, Brendan and Margaret. Dear brother of Carol (Patrick) Healy and Dennis (Margaret) Fox. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Jim received a bachelors degree in Anthropology and Archaeology from the University of Buffalo. An independent Insurance Agent and Proprietor of the James Fox Agency, he retired after many years of service. A member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians,Irish American Society of County Will and the Knights of Columbus. His hobbies included Civil War history and artifacts, geneaology and reading. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family at his lake house in Michigan. His true love of life was shown through his grandchildren.
An important accomplishment for Jim was being a founding member of the Troy-Shorewood Library as well holding various offices since its inception. He was also a Past President of the Burr Oak-Heritage Trail Library System.
All friends and relatives are invited to join the Fox family at St. Mary Catholic Church, 105 W. St. Mary St. in Minooka on Thursday, June 18, 2009, where a Memorial Mass will be Celebrated at 11 a.m. A reception luncheon will follow the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name can be made to the Troy-Shorewood Library, American Diabetes Association or Passages Hospice. Arrangements by:
