Earl H. Engmark
Earl H. Engmark, age 90, passed away at his home in Shorewood on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, surrounded by the love of his family. Earl was born on September 6, 1929, the son of the late Marius and Clara (nee Haaning) Engmark. He was born and raised in Chicago, IL and was a graduate of Foreman High School. Earl was a proud veteran of the United States Army who served during Korea and was a member of the Veteran’s Club of Shorewood.
Earl was the owner/operator of Engmark Masonry and was a talented woodcarver. Being the true outdoorsman, after retirement, he and Diana moved to Idaho where they enjoyed hunting and fishing in the mountains. He loved sports and enjoyed attending the sporting events of his grandchildren. His legacy will live on in those he left behind. He will truly be missed by all that knew him.
Earl was the type of man that everyone loved. He made friends wherever he went. He was quick to make people smile and everyone knew his name.
Earl is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 69 years, Diana J. (nee Fletcher) Engmark; children, Linda Polk, Robert (Jill) Engmark, and Alan (Mary) Engmark; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, with two on the way; and his siblings, Hannah Baumann, Clara Anderson, and Virginia Skaathun.
He is preceded by his parents and one brother, Leroy Engmark.
A Memorial Gathering for Earl H. Engmark will take place on Saturday, February 22, 2020, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. As it was his request, cremation rites have been accorded. Interment will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Rd., Elwood, IL. Full Military Honors will be held under the auspices of the United States Army and the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Squad. Memorials in his name to Wounded Warriors Project, P.O.
