Dear Brown family,
I was very saddened to
hear about the loss of "Leroy" as I knew him from Symphony of Joliet.
I am sorry I lost touch after he relocated to the Manteno Veterans Home.
I really enjoy many, many visits with him when I also visited my mom who Leroy also knew. Maybe his daughter met my mom Marion Kautz. It is unfortunate I also lost my mom this last month on April 8th. It was so nice seeing them both at the same time. I was very fond of his artwork, painted bird houses, and I have Christmas lighthouse. He was so excited when he got his camera. I really came to love him as my dear friend. I am sorry I never met Leroy's dear wife because I worked during the day. I would like to attend his VA services at Abraham Lincoln Cemetery if it has happend as of yet. Please call me at 832-496-7570 anytime to express ny condolences of this fine gentleman. Goodbye my sweet friend Leroy, with a hug. ❤

Leroy was the most special man and will forever be my favorite resident. He was never in a bad mood, always focused on the positive, and went out of his way to make sure those around him were ok. I am so lucky and grateful to have known him for so many years. Janet and Marilyn I’m so sorry for your loss.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Leroy was always good to me when he was Mayor and I was working for Coal City.

I am sorry to hear of your Dad and Husband's passing. Leroy always was so kind to me when I would come over to your house in Coal City and on the house on the Kankakee River... I especially liked when you lived in the country with all the cows remembering when I brought Kathryn (then about 2 years old) over. You are in my prayers during this difficult time;
Blessings

Janet & Mrs. Brown:
Today I was cleaning some old file boxes at the Village Hall and ironically I ran across an Ordinance from August 14, 1967, signed by the Village Mayor, J. Leroy Brown. Your loved one will live forever in the archives of the Village. I remember his visits to see Jim Fleming at the law office, always a kind word and a smile. I am sorry for your loss and I hope you find some solace in your memories. Do you think he's playing cards with LaVergne & Dick Kuchar? I hope so. That is how I want to remember him. He was a great guy.

Our deepest sympathy to you on Leroy's passing. What a great neighbor he was. We had a wonderful neighborhood at that time. I know your hearts are heavy now but be thankful for the memories. May God be with you at this time.
