Sr.Mary was my 8th grade teacher at Corpus Christi. To many teachers are teachers and that’s it but Sr.Mary left a impact on me that I still have at the age of 40. She was stern yes and I appreciated that. She also made you believe in yourself when no one else would. I’ve thought about her a lot and sadly never got chance to reconnect with her before her passing. Sister Mary you will be most definitely miss.
Sister Mary taught me in eighth grade at Corpus Christi in 1989. This was the first year Corpus and St. Lad's consolidated. I was terrified, going to a new building felt like going to a new school. On top of that I was going to have a nun for a teacher. That year was the best school year ever. She went to our dance and had my mom doing the twist. I learned more from her that year than I learned from anyone. My mom baked her a pineapple upside down cake every Good Friday until she moved. She was a wonderful teacher and friend.
Sister Mary was one of my favorite and most memorable teachers at Corpus Christi in Columbus Ohio. Loving yet firm, I learned a lot from her. She always told me “The early bird gets the worm” and I’ve had that attitude my entire life. She will truly be missed!
I worked with Sister Mary at Holy Spirit School. She was a delight! She kept us laughing all the time! What a beautiful soul. My condolences to her family and to all teachers and students whose lives she touched.
Sister Mary always had a smile for everyone. My daughters were too young to have her as a teacher but she had an impact none the less. My third daughter was just a pre-schooler when her older sisters attended St. Philip the Apostle and she loved to visit Sr. Mary's classroom. There was always candy in her desk! My daughter referred to Sr. Mary as her "Candy Ma'am."
