Aunt Ruth was a hoot. She was always engaged and receptive to everyone around her and greeted each person with love and caring. She always seemed to love life and to enjoy whatever situation she was in. We were at her 90th birthday celebration and had planned to attend her 100th. It always gave us a wonderful feeling to know that such a kind, caring person shared the planet with us. We will miss her greatly.

I first met Phil's Aunt Ruth at my first Alexander Reunion in Montrose, at a picnic at the park along the river. What a delightful, fun lady! I think that was maybe 27 years ago. Ruth was so happy to see her extended family again, and she seemed happy to meet and chat with me, even though I was expecting her to be mostly interested in her relatives that she already knew. I remember she and Jeanne spent a fair amount of time talking and laughing with Phil, and his sisters Ruth and Martha. And she really smiled with genuine warmth as she spoke with our two little girls and Phil's son Erik. I learned that Aunt Ruth was "holding the Fort" for her generation of Alexanders. And she did that so well! Our next visit together our younger "little girl" was now grown up and gainfully employed and driving her parents to a Thanksgiving Day with Aunt Ruth and Jeanne in Joliet. So many years later - 24? We all laughed and shared stories, and family memories and Alexander history. And Aunt Ruth was engaged and happy and even remembered me after just that one day along the river. I am so glad we spent that Thanksgiving with her and with Jeanne. I was hoping for another visit this summer, Aunt Ruth. But you had another journey to make. Blessed travels.

My Aunt Ruth was the youngest of the Alexanders, my Mother was the oldest. There were six in between, all raised on the farm. I remember them almost as one from my childhood--the smiles, the genuine hellos, the humor, the happiness. As I grew I learned about integrity, determination, the value of work, and care for family. Truly a trove of memories and a generation worthy of remembrance.

Aunt Ruth has been a special and honored member of the Alexander family. Memories of her 90th birthday celebration and attendant Alexander family reunion with attendees from across America was a positive life event. Thanks Jeanne for all that you've done for your mom
Blessings!
