Nicholas C. Georges
Age 85. Passed away Thursday, February 26, 2009 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center. Born in Joliet to the late Gus and Stephania Georgoulakis, he was a long time area resident. Graduate of Joliet Township High School Class of 1942, where he was a member of their ROTC program. He attended the University of Illinois until enlisting in the Army Air Corps. He served on active duty form 1943 until 1946, as a navigator/bombardier on an A26 Invader. He remained in the Air Force Reserves until retiring in 1983 with the rank of Major. Nick along with his brother, John, owned and operated Lily Cache Farms many years. He was a member of the American Legion Hardwood Post #5 for more than 50 years. He also belonged to the Will County Farm Bureau and other organizations.
Surviving are his four siblings, John Georgoulakis of Shorewood, Mary Anast of Aurora, Aspasia (Donald) Nelson of Plainfield and Theodora (late Donald) Kelly of Plainfield; numerous nieces, nephews, great-niece, great-nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, James Paul Kelly.
Funeral Services for Nicholas C. Georges will be Monday, March 2, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Fr. Stephen Bithos officiating. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Armed Forces Relief Trust or USO would be appreciated. Visitation MONDAY MORNING 8:30 a.m. until time of services at:
