Shirley Alice Downing

(nee Myers)

Age 92, formerly of Leesburg, FL passed away Wednesday morning December 2, 2020.  She was born December 21, 1927 to the late Gertrude (nee Schafer) and Dewey Myers in Seward, New York and was raised in Cobleskill, New York.  She married Robert Downing June 8, 1947 in Cobleskill.

In addition to her beloved husband of 73 years, she is also survived by her daughter, Patricia (Robert) Ross; three grandchildren, Jeffery (Katherine) Ross, Kathryn Cox and Bryan (Kim) Ross; three great-grandchildren, Isaac, Logan and Amelia; one sister, Estella Fosemire and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Elaine Downing; grandson, Christopher Lee Ross; sister, Virginia Hadler and brother, Carl Myers.

As it was Shirley’s wish cremation rites will be accorded.  In lieu of flowers memorials in her name can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
