Obituary of Charles Antillio Nonnie
Charles Atillio “Chuck” Nonnie, age 87, of Shorewood, IL passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 12, 2020. He was the third of six children born to Atillio and Josephine (nee Mantia) Nonnie.
Chuck was a graduate of Joliet Central High School, Class of 1951. He then attended Joliet Junior College and accepted a position as an account representative for John Hancock Life Insurance Company. Eventually, he joined the family-owned business, Industrial Color, Inc. of Joliet, where he worked as the Director of Mechanical Operations, until his retirement in 2006.
Chuck was an avid boat enthusiast and his greatest joy was hosting gatherings for his family and friends at his cottage. The highlight of the day was the boat ride down the river which gave him immense satisfaction.
Chuck was devoted to his nieces and nephews and their extended families. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them and was extremely proud of all of their accomplishments. His gentle, loving nature will be missed greatly.
Chuck is preceded in death by both of his parents, younger sister, Phyllis Puntney, two brothers, Lawrence Nonnie and Robert Nonnie, and a nephew, Anthony “Tony” Nonnie.
He is survived by his devoted sister, Inez Nonnie, and his older brother, Eugene Nonnie. He leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Charles Nonnie will be held Saturday morning, December 19, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:15 a.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, (at Essington Road), Joliet. Face masks will be required, social distancing will be practiced, and attendance will be limited to 10 persons at a time.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, at 9:15 a.m., from the funeral home to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, Joliet, where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville.
