Obituary of Anthony J. Lisy
Anthony J. Lisy of Crest Hill, IL, died on December 19, 2020, at AMITA St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, IL. He was born on July 18, 1936, in Joliet, IL. Tony worked for 42 years at Plainfield Stamping, formerly Plainfield Tool & Engineering, as a tool and diemaker. Prior to that, he worked at Phillips Control, where he met his future wife, and at Joliet Tool. He was a graduate of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Grade School, class of 1950, and Joliet Township High School, class of 1954.
One of Tony’s proudest achievements was earning his Associate’s Degree from Joliet Junior College in 2005, putting him in good company with his daughters and granddaughters. Tony could always be found at his daughters’ and granddaughters’ races, officiating at some of them, softball games, graduations, fishing derbies, and any other event they participated in.
Tony was an Honorary Lifetime Member of the Bass & Gill Club in Plainfield, IL, writing the newsletter for many years prior to the club using email. He was the longest attending member of the Mended Hearts, Chapter 129, AMITA St. Joseph Medical Center, having served as Treasurer for many years. Tony enjoyed metal detecting and was a longtime member of the Will County Historical Research & Recovery Association and the Senior Citizens Association. Tony also enjoyed fishing, especially at Dresden Lake with his childhood friend, Ed Kijowski.
Tony is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Barbara (nee Palmer), of Crest Hill, IL, his daughters, Beverlee (Michael) Dallmann of Lemont, IL, Cheryl Lisy of Crest Hill, IL, and Deborah (Matthew Tischer) Lisy of Joliet, IL; his granddaughters, Sydney (Dan Cardea) Lisy of Las Vegas, NV, Marjorie Dallmann (fiancé Dakota Givens) of Fairfax, VA, and Julia Dallmann of Lemont, IL; siblings Patricia Lawrence, Raymond (Sandy) Lisy and Joseph Lisy, all of Morris, IL, and Rosemary (Tom) Satterfield of Ewing, IL; in-laws Alva (Sharlene) Palmer of Buchanan, TN, and Donald (Diana) Palmer of Scottsdale, AZ. Tony is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents Anton and Mary (nee Plechacek) Lisy; granddaughter Rozalyn Irene Dallmann; brother, Edward Lisy, and sister, Mary Ann Lisy; his favorite uncle, Anton Plechacek; and his beloved in-laws, Alva and Bernadine (nee Madden) Palmer.
Visitation for Tony will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2020, from 8:15 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet. Facemasks and distancing are required and capacity restrictions will be followed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church 706 N. Broadway St., Joliet at 10:00 a.m. Those wishing to attend Mass are asked to arrive at Church by 9:45 a.m. to be seated. Interment will be private at Resurrection Cemetery.
