Girard, Richard D.
"Dick"
Age 67. Suddenly Friday, November 16, 2012 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Joliet and a longtime Elwood and Joliet area resident. He attended the University of Illinois, and was a graduate of Joliet Junior College, and Joliet Township High School Class of 1962. A U. S. Army veteran. Retired from Amoco BP Chemical Company in 1999 after over 29 years of service as a laboratory supervisor. A member of the Jackson Township Twilighters Club. Former Cub Master of Elwood Cub Scout Pack, Past President of the Elwood Little League Association, and former Elwood School Board Member. A die hard Illini and Joliet Jackhammer fan.
Preceded by his parents, Dennis and Christel Girard.
Survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Carol (nee Leff) Girard of Elwood; one son, Chris (Renee) Girard of Channahon; one daughter, Traci (Patrick) Ambrose of Cary, IL; five grandchildren, Ashley, Tyler and Peyton Girard and Matthew and Evan Ambrose; his sister, Marilyn (late Bill) Emerson of Coal City; and a brother-in-law, Larry (Diane) Leff of Chetek, WI. Two nieces, two nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services for Richard D. Girard will be Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded under the auspices of the U. S. Army. Visitation Monday, 3-7 p.m. at:
