Obituary of Alfreda Ann Blahut

Freda Ann Blahut, (nee Marszalek), age 97, of Joliet, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Lakeshore Rehab and Healthcare in Joliet.

Surviving is her loving niece, Lynda (Robert) McCarthy, as well as many great nieces, great nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Blahut; parents, Walter and Mary Marszalek; three sisters, Frances Marszalek, Helen (Edward) Struzik, and Theresa Marszalek; and her beloved niece, Mary-kay "Beans" Struzik.

Freda was a parishioner at the former St. Thaddeus Church for many years where she volunteered much of her time, later becoming a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.  She was also a parishioner at St. Mary Immaculate Church and a member of the Joliet Elks Lodge where she worked Bingo. 

Freda was employed at the Busy Bee Restaurant in Joliet and enjoyed being a camp counselor during the summers working with children at various parks.  She will always be remembered for her love of Pekingese dogs, especially her Chrissy.

Freda's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the entire staff of Lakewood Rehab and Healthcare and Transitions Hospice for their loving care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name can be made to your favorite charity.

Funeral services for Freda Marszalek Blahut were private.  Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery.
