Obituary of David Anthony Davisson
Age 84, of Joliet, IL passed away Sunday evening January 24, 2021 at Amita Health St. Joseph Medical Center. He was born in Oakland, CA August 31, 1936.
He married Mary C. Dwyer in 1969 and she preceded David in death on January 12, 2021. After spending those few days apart, they are now reunited and together in peace for eternity.
In addition to Mary, David’s beloved wife of 52 years, he is also preceded in death by his parents, Virginia (Thompson) and Eigill Davisson, and his brother Jim.
Surviving are his sister Jean Metcalf; four sons, Michael (Amy), Joel, Matt and Kevin Davisson; three grandchildren, Lucy and twins, Adam and Kara. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
David retired from Caterpillar Inc. as an accountant after over 35 years of dedicated service. In his retirement, he was able to spend more time doing things he loved - traveling, bowling, golfing, cheering for the Oakland A’s, and playing fantasy sports with his family.
Funeral services will be held privately as will the interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
At a later date, when it is safe for all to gather, a Memorial Service commemorating Mr. and Mrs. Davisson will take place. An updated obituary with details will be published in the future.
