Obituary of Bernard A. Pekelder

Bernard A. Pekelder      

Age 62, of Bolingbrook, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021 at his late residence surrounded by the love of his family.  He was born in Brookfield, MO, the son of the late Donald and Betty Pekelder, he was a long time resident of Bolingbrook. 

Bernie was formerly employed as a maintenance manager for 45 years. He was an avid fisherman and loved to play bags, dance, beat his grandkids at foosball, and thoroughly enjoyed the Chicago Blackhawks, White Sox and Bears.

Bernie lived his life for his wife, kids and grandkids.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Debbie Pekelder of Bolingbrook; his two children, Jenny (Frank) Macikas of Channahon and Chris (Kandi) Pekelder of Plainfield; seven grandchildren, Kylie, Aiden, Haleigh, Evan, Gracie, Gwen and Reese; eight siblings, Carol (Lee) Swank, Doug Pekelder, Ruth (Donnie) Midgett, Linda (Greg) Zolecki, Debra (Jim) Gibson, Janet (Rich) Kolin and Jerry (Nancy) Pekelder; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bernie is preceded in death by his brother, Bruce Pekelder; and his parents.

Visitation for Bernard A. Pekelder will be Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 25050 W. Eames Street, Channahon, IL 60440, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.  Interment will be held privately by the family.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Resurrection Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
