Age 91. At rest Monday, March 8, 2010 at her late residence. Born in Pittsburg, Kansas and a lifelong Joliet area resident. A life Member and Past President (1965 - 1966) and (2000 - 2001) Ladies Auxiliary to Cantigny Post VFW #367. Past President of the 18th District VFW Ladies Auxiliary (1998 - 1999). She had taught Americanism and had presented flags to many children for over 30 years providing a valuable service to the community. Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary (1973 - 1974). Fraternal Order of Eagles #733; member of American Legion Post #1080; life member of the Sheridan School PTA serving on the Board of Directors.
Preceded in death by her husband, Emmett E. "Unk" Arter ( Jan. 25, 1995); her father, Joseph Ostinelli; her mother, Rose (nee Biada) Aimone; her stepfather, John Aimone; two brothers, Charles and Lewis Ostinelli; one sister, Josephine Mossberger.
Survived by one son, Edward J. (Karen) Arter of Plainfield; two daughters, Corrine "Corky" (Alan) Harvey-Akre of Joliet and Cheryl (late Michael Bakos) Arter of Las Vegas, NV; four grandchildren, Jerome Harvey, Timothy Harvey, Richard (Mandi) Harvey and Tracee (Tim) Carr; one great-grandson, Michael Harvey; one great-grandaughter, Zennah Harvey; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Private funeral services for Theresa M. Arter were held Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the funeral home chapel. Interment Plainfield Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her memory to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society or the American Kidney Foundation would be appreciated. NO VISITATION. Arrangements by:
