Robert Sanchez
Age 64 of Joliet, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Amita Health St. Joseph Medical Center. He was born in Joliet on June 5, 1956, and was a former resident of Wilmington before moving back to Joliet following retirement. Robert attended Fairmont Jr. High and graduated from Joliet Central High School with the Class of 1975. He was the former owner/operator of Air One Wireless in Wilmington. Robert held a third-degree black belt in karate and was affiliated with Blythe School of Karate and Shorei-Gojiu. He was a karate instructor with Sanchez School of Karate located at the Spanish Center. He was a member of the Lighthouse Church of All Nations of Alsip, IL. Robert was a former coach for youth football, high school football, and women’s softball.
He is survived by his two children, Amy Sanchez of Joliet and Robert Sanchez of Minooka; his grandchildren, Isaac, Isaiah, Alfonso, Cuda, Ryan, Lance, Emberlynn Victoria, and Sator Gamble Sanchez; his loving former wife, Dawn Spencer of Wilmington; siblings, Sandra (late John) Suarez, Mike (Connie) Marquez, John (Katherine) Romo and Monica Marquez Murphy; brother-in-law, Tom Alamillo; Niece, Michelle (Dan) Wonnell Moreno; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends including Ralph (Rhonda) Blythe and Rick (Bev) Barnhart also survive.
He was preceded by his two daughters, Victoria and Santana Sanchez; mother, Henrietta Sanchez; brother, Tony Marquez; sister, Joaquina Marquez Alamillo; aunt, Jacqueline Lomeli.
Visitation for Robert Sanchez will be Friday, April 16, 2021, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black (at Essington Rds.), Joliet from 12 Noon – 4:00 p.m. Facemasks are required and capacity restrictions will be observed. As it was Robert’s request, cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the Peter Claver Center for Karate would be appreciated.
