Obituary of Sr. Anna Konrath, OSF
Sister Anna Konrath, OSF (1932 – 2021) died at Joliet Hospice Home, Joliet, Illinois, on April 17, 2021.
Sister Anna was a native of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her parents, Theresa Aspan and Gottfried Konrath, her brothers, Julius and Fred, and her sister, Dolores. She is survived by her brothers, Richard and Raymond, who reside in Chicago. Sister Anna was a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate for 70 years.
Sister Anna graduated from St. Theodore Grade School in Chicago and attended Sacred Heart High School in Englewood. She graduated from St. Francis Academy (now Joliet Catholic Academy) in Joliet, Illinois. She received a bachelor’s degree in the area of mathematics from the College of St. Francis (now the University of St. Francis) in Joliet, Illinois, and attended Rosary College, Mundelein, and Triton Community Colleges, earning required hours in the field of dietetics.
Sister Anna ministered in the field of elementary education for thirteen years at schools in Illinois and Michigan. In 1966, she pursued her interest in the field of dietetics at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home in Joliet. Continuing her formal studies in the field, she became an affiliate with the American Dietetic Association and the Restaurant Women’s Club of Chicago. From 1969 until 1982, she ministered at Little Company of Mary Hospital, Lutheran General Hospital and nursing homes on the north side of Chicago. In 1982 she began a 10-year position with the Evanston School District, serving as coordinator of 14 schools associated with the government hot lunch program.
Due to the restrictions of the COVID virus, there will be no wake for Sister Anna. She will be interred in the Congregation’s plot at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, IL. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated for Sister Anna at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home in Joliet at a future date.
