Obituary of James G. Wiencek
Age 65, of Joliet, passed away Friday, August 13, 2021 at Lightways Hospice. He was born September 19, 1955 to the late Loretta (Zec) and Chester J. Wiencek in Chicago, IL where he was raised and educated, a graduate of Hubbard High School, class of 1973.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Eileen (McGee) Wiencek; son, James Joseph (Ramona) Wiencek and Karen Wiencek; grandchildren, Taylor Knudson; Collin, Catie and Rosie Wiencek; siblings, Linda Oblazny, Chester (Kathy) Wiencek, Tina (late Dave) Zickus, Mike (Julie) Wiencek, Dave (Henna) Wiencek and Mary Ann Wiencek. Also surviving are his aunt Jean Wiencek and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Jim and Ellen McGee and one brother-in-law.
Jim was a dedicated employee of General Electric in Chicago for over 35 years. He was a Chicago Bears fan who enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He was also a friend of Bill W.
Visitation for Jim will be held Tuesday, August 17, 2021 from 4-8 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd) Joliet,60431. Funeral services Wednesday, August 18, 2021, 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Mary Immaculate Parish, 15629 Illinois Rte 59, Plainfield, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. As it was Jim’s wish, cremation rites will be accorded following Mass.
