Obituary of Daniel Joseph Kelly
Daniel Joseph Kelly, age 62, passed away suddenly on August 23, 2021, at his home.
Dan was born in Joliet on February 20, 1959 and was a lifelong resident. He graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from the University of St. Francis (USF), Class of 1982.
Dan enjoyed a thirty-plus-year sales representative career working for various orthotic and prosthetic supply companies where he achieved many top sales awards. His recent years were spent working part-time at Butler National Golf Club, Joliet Country Club, and most recent Morris Country Club.
Dan was an excellent golfer and an all-around fan of many sports, but especially the Green Bay Packers. He played on the Joliet West High School and USF golf teams. He was captain of his collegiate golf team, was inducted into the USF Sports Hall of Fame, and made a hole-in-one at Inwood Golf Course. He was always happy to coach people on their golf game. Dan was devoted to his Catholic faith and as a caregiver to his parents. He was a well-known face in Joliet and leaves many dear lifelong friends to grieve his absence.
Dan is survived by his father, Donald Robert Kelly; three siblings, Robert Thomas (Anne) Kelly, Patrick Terrence (Lisa) Kelly, and Margaret Mary Meyer. He is also survived by his beloved companion, Colette Naal. Numerous nieces, nephews and one great-nephew, Bennett Kelly, also survive.
He was preceded by his mother, Elizabeth Ann Kelly; brother, Martin Joseph Kelly, in infancy; paternal grandparents Robert T. and Marie (nee Hermanns) Kelly; maternal grandparents Roland E. and Irene V. (nee Woodruff) Scully.
A Memorial Mass will be held on September 4, 2021 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 18 Woodlawn Ave., Joliet, Illinois. Inurnment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. No visitation will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the University of St. Francis Athletic Department (Golf Program), 500 Wilcox St., Joliet, Illinois 60435 would be appreciated.
