Obituary of Cheryle Gray

Gray, Cheryle A. (nee McQuead) Age 65, of Joliet, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, surrounded by her devoted family. She had courageously battled breast cancer for 21 years. Cheryle was a loving and caring wife, mother, nanna, daughter and sister. She enjoyed her career as a travel agent working for Joliet Travel Agency and Argonne National Laboratory Travel Department, retiring in 2004. She was active for many years in various community charities including serving in chairperson positions for Joliet Catholic Academy Jubilations and Jubilate fundraisers. Surviving are her beloved husband of 45 years, the Honorable Lawrence C. Gray (Ret.); two sons, Jeff S. (Joan) Gray of Clive, IA, and Eric W. (Kim) Gray of New Lenox; four grandchildren, Ian and Kathryn Gray and Jillian and Cassidy Gray; her parents, John and Isabelle "Jean" (nee Pearson) McQuead of Escondido, CA; one sister, Marsha (Jim) VanderSpek of Escondido, CA; two brothers, Robert (Ann) McQuead of Escondido, CA, and Michael (Melissa) McQuead of Highland, CA; a brother-in-law, Mel (Tana) Gray of Joliet; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded by her grandparents and one brother-in-law, John Gray. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Ellen Gustafson of Joliet Oncology and Hematology Associates and the caring and wonderful staff of Joliet Area Community Hospice. Funeral Services for Cheryle A. Gray will be Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Joliet Catholic Academy Development Fund or Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Wednesday, 4-8 p.m. at: FRED C.
