Obituary of John Gray

John H. Gray Age 77, of Shorewood, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born January 30, 1933 in West Frankfort, IL. He served with the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1953, serving on the USS Missouri. He moved to the Joliet area, working for Fisher Body for 11 years, and later established Gray Bus Service which he operated from 1964 until retiring in 1984. John was a devoted family man, who was involved in all his children's and grandchildren's activities. He was also very proud of his school bus business and the people who worked for him. Survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Barbara (nee Manis) Gray; three sons, William (Debbie), David (Laura) and Gary (Susan) Gray; five grandchildren, Eric (Michelle), Megan, Samantha, Ashley and Aaron Gray; two great-grandchildren, Haley and Zachary; one sister, Joan (late Jack) Jones; one brother, Larry Gray; and his nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Dolores (nee Lucas) Gray; one sister, Alice Sims; and two brothers, Ronald and Gary. Funeral Services for John H. Gray will be Friday, February 5, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Visitation Thursday 3-8 p.m. at: FRED C.
