Obituary of Bill Stafford
William C. Stafford
Age 82, of Minooka, IL passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021, at Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL. He was born March 8, 1939, in Joliet, IL to the late Helen (nee Lamping) and William Chester Stafford. Bill was raised in Minooka and lived there most of his life. He also resided in Morris for nearly twenty years.
On January 31, 1959, he married Judith A. Kubinski at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Joliet.
In addition to his beloved wife of 62 years, Judy, he is also survived by his daughter, Kelly Stafford; three sons, William (Bev), Douglas (Jan), and Jeffrey (Melissa) Stafford; grandchildren, Debi Duha, Sara (Joe) Armstrong; Roger, William; Isabelle (Josh) Gregg, Olivia, and Sylvia; great-grandchildren, Austin and Tristyn.
Also surviving are a brother, David (Lana) Stafford; three sisters, Susan (Ron) Kuykendal, Phyllis (Micky) Feeny, Peggy (Jim) Furto, and brothers-in-law, Tom (Patty) Kubinski, Ed (Judy) Kubinski as well as many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Stefanie Lewis, and sister, Marilyn (late Jack) Severson.
Bill retired from Equistar (Lyondell) after over 30 years of dedicated service and was previously employed at Seneca Petroleum in Lemont. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Mary’s Council #12882, Equistar Sports Club, and the Downers Grove Sports Club.
An avid trap-shooter, Bill received many awards for his skill in shooting. He also enjoyed fishing, driving through the mountains of Colorado, walking the beaches of South Padre Island, TX, and replying to anyone helping him with a task, “Oh yeah, We can fix that.”
He will be remembered fondly for his great pride and love for his family.
A proud excursion for Bill occurred in 2006 on a pilgrimage to Poland, Medjiugorye, Prague, and Rome; so much to see, an unforgettable blessing.
Visitation for Bill will be Thursday, September 9, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial is celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 303 St. Mary’s Street, Minooka, IL. Interment will take place at a later date in the church cemetery.
Facemasks and social distancing will be observed.
