On Thursday, September 9, 2021, Edna L. Daily, loving mother and grandmother, departed this earth to be in her heavenly home, at the age of 99. Edna was born on December 27, 1921, in McLeansboro, Illinois, to Franklin and Mary (nee Yarorough) Ritchey.  She married WW2 Veteran, Gene Edward Daily in East St. Louis in 1946, and to their union they were blessed with four children. They lived in Decatur, IL and later moved to Springfield, Joliet, and Washington, IL, and finally settled down in Elwood, IL.

Edna loved her family very much and was multi-talented with many skills as a homemaker.  She loved to sew, cook, and bake delicious cakes, pies, cookies, and candies.  At Christmas, she would give her delicious Christmas cookies to family, friends, and church.  Edna loved the golden age of Hollywood movies.  She had a warm smile, a great sense of humor, and a resilient personality that came from living through the Great Depression and WW2.

Edna is survived by her four children, Andrea Carlier, Debra (Donald) Shewmake, Cynthia (Robert) Garner, and Darrin Daily; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded by her loving husband, Gene; her son, Charles Renshaw; one brother, Orean; and her sisters, Ella, Francis, Katherine. 

Visitation for Edna L. Daily will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
