Austin Michael Degnan
Austin Michael Degnan, age 9, passed away peacefully at his home in Channahon after a three year battle with Osteosarcoma on Monday, October 4, 2021, surrounded by the love of his family. Austin was born in Palos Park, IL on July 26, 2012, the son of Jonathan and Carrie (nee Bettega) Degnan. He was raised in Channahon, IL and attended Pioneer Path Elementary School.
Austin was a typical active boy. Whether it was jumping on the trampoline, riding the moped with his brother, or playing soccer, he enjoyed being outside in the fresh air. You could always count on Austin to have a positive outlook and a smile on his face. With his shining personality and big heart, he always thought of his family first. One of his favorite pastimes was playing videogames with his brother and his dad. Austin will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
Austin is survived by his loving parents, Jonathan (fiancee Sheree) and Carrie Degnan; brothers, Jayden and Gavin Degnan; grandparents, Gary (Amy) Bettega of Morris, Cindy (Daniel) Buhle of Channahon, and Deborah Ambrosini of NC; great-grandparents, Janice Hudek of Channahon, and Chris (Shirley) Bettega of Tinley Park; uncles, Greg (Krystal) Bettega of Channahon, Clinton (Michelle) Buhle of Kankakee, William (Judith) Degnan of Villa Park, and Scott Ambrosini of NC; his aunt, Eileen (Richard) Johnson of Henderson, NV; and his cousins, Madison and Brooklynn Bettega, William, Dana, Laine and James Degnan and Eddie Moore.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandpa, Walter Hudek; paternal grandparents, William and Anita Degnan.
A Celebration of Life for Austin Michael Degnan will be held from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m., on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at the VFW Post 9545, 323 Old Hickory Rd, New Lenox, IL 60451, hosted by his mother, Carrie Degnan. The following weekend on Saturday, November 13, 2021 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. will be a second Celebration of Life for Austin Michael Degnan at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Legion, 120 Liberty Street, Morris, IL, hosted by his father, Jon Degnan and Sheree Harris with a balloon release at 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Pink Heals would be appreciated.
