Obituary of Thomas W. Boyne
Thomas W. Boyne, age 84, of Channahon, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, October 6, 2021 with his loving family by his side, at Lightways Hospice Home.
Tom was born May 28, 1937 in Chicago, to William and Lucille (Eulburg) Boyne, and was a graduate of Joliet Township High School. He began working for Caterpillar, Inc., before joining the United States Marine Corps in 1956 serving with Company D of the 1st. Marine Division and attaining the rank of Corporal.
Following his military service, he returned to Caterpillar, working as a welder and proud member of International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Local 851. Tom retired from Cat after 46 years of faithful service.
A die hard Chicago Bears fan, Tom enjoyed working puzzles, doing wire art, watching the History channel, traveling, and playing Mahjong. Above everything else, however, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the youngest great-great-grandchildren.
He will be remembered for his story telling and his love for anything having to do with his hero, John Wayne.
Thomas is survived by his children, Florelle (Deb) Knight, Aaron (Sandy) Boyne and Brian (the late Violet) Boyne; 19 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and his faithful pets, Duke, Pancake, Hadies and Aries.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Theresa Knight Routt and Violet Brazier; one grandson; one great-grandson; his former wife, Bonnie; his wife, Barb; and two brothers, Henry Boyne and Richard Boyne.
