Obituary of Mark A. Mass

Mark A. Mass, age 82, of Joliet, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Lightways Hospice Home.

Mark was born in Chicago, the son of the late Frank and Sally (Schaefer) Mass, and resided in Joliet since 1964.  He received his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology, and retired from Caterpillar, Inc., in 2015, at the age of 75. 

Mark was a member of the Church of St. Jude.  He enjoyed woodworking and remodeling just about anything.

Surviving is his loving wife of 62 years, Angela (Stella) Mass of Joliet; three children, Tony (Linda) Mass of Barrington, IL, Michael (Jackie) Mass of Minooka, and Lisa (Matt) Widlowski of Joliet; seven grandchildren, Allison (Mike) Cahill, Troy Mass, Sarah (Eric) Levin, Andrew Mass, Paige Mass, Steven Widlowski and Lauren Widlowski; one great-grandson, Bauer Levin; two sisters, Sr. Barbara Mass, SLW and Charlotte (the late Joe) Greil.

Visitation for Mark A. Mass will be Monday, October 18, 2021, at the Church of St. Jude, 2212 McDonough Street, Joliet, from 9:00 a.m., until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m.  Private interment will be held at Risen Lord Cemetery, Oswego, at a later date.
