Obituary of Harry P. Johnson
Age 65, of Wilmington, IL passed from this life Saturday, October 16, 2021.
He was born August 31, 1956, in Anna, IL to Claudia (nee Dillow) and the late Billy J. Johnson. Harry was raised in Joliet and lived in the Joliet area most of his life.
He is survived by his wife Lisa Bain-Johnson; sons and daughters, Adam Lee (Laura) Johnson, Lindsay Keeperman, Brandy (Luke) Kane, Jordan (Quen) Bain, and Kaylee Dunkin; several siblings, including Jimmy Johnson and Janey Jones as well as his grandchildren also survive.
Harry was employed by Personal Products in Wilmington. His true passion was working on cars. He was a talented mechanic who could find a way to bring the fire and rumble back to many a classic automobile over the years.
An exceptional man holds unique passions. His passion as a mechanic spurred him into many different hobbies, projects, and communities. Throughout the years, Doc left his mark with other enthusiasts everywhere he went, telling stories and always serving as a reminder to enjoy the little things and more importantly to have fun. One of the most memorable things about Harry was his inner child that always shined through his eyes. It is not often in adulthood that we are inspired to live like we did as kids, carefree and fun-loving, which is exactly how Doc lived every day. When we look at some of Doc’s favorite places and events, it is obvious that family, community, and lifetime experiences were the driving force behind Doc’s day-to-day life. Camp Riley’s Jeep ride for handicapped children with Fat Boy Jeep run was an event Doc raved about each year he was able to participate as a volunteer. Iron Horse Mud Ranch, Desel’s Mud Ranch, Mud Turtles 4x4 club, and many other off-road clubs are just a few of the places and communities that knew and adored Doc. Anywhere he went, he was there to help, always the first to volunteer even when he wasn’t physically able. Doc had become a part of what is affectionately known as the “mud family.” Families and people from all over who come together to enjoy the world of 4x4 and off-roading. A favorite hobby of Doc’s that he loved to share in any way that he could, creating memories for so many, that they can now fondly look back on and remember to keep the passion alive even when times get tough. Because that is what Doc always did.

As it was Harry’s wish cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of his life is being planned for a later date and will be announced.
