Obituary of Sherry Lynn Urso

Sherry Lynn Urso, age 64, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at her home in Channahon, surrounded by the love of her family.  Sherry was born in Joliet, IL on March 3, 1957, the daughter of James A. Sparks and Kathleen Harris. 

Sherry is survived by her husband of 33 years, Joseph A. Urso III;  children, Timothy (Sabrina) Etheridge of Minooka, IL, Tommy (Amanda) Etheridge of Joliet, IL, Joseph (Mandy) Urso IV of Channahon, IL; grandchildren; Austin, Brooke, Cheyenne, Rylan, Joseph V and Anthony; siblings, Jamey (Floyd) Baker of Minooka, IL, James (Sue) Sparks of Missouri, Charles Sparks of Galesburg, IL and  Sherry (Eric) Muller of Chicago, IL; mother-in-law, Marie Urso and brother-in-law, Chuck Urso both of Florida. Many nieces and nephews also survive.  

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Sherry was employed at Minooka High School in the Maintenance department for many years where she befriended many of her co-workers and students alike. 

She was a member of the First Church of God in Joliet.  A faithful Christian, loving wife and mother, Sherry will long be remembered as a wonderful Nana by her grandchildren.

Visitation for Sherry will be Friday, October 22, 2021 from 2:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL.  Funeral services will be Saturday morning, October 23, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Carl Wagner will officiate.  Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
