Obituary of Stephanie Marie Baker
At just the short age of 42, lifelong Joliet, IL resident, Stephanie Marie Baker passed away from this earthly world on Sunday, October 31st,2021. She was born on June 27, 1979 to the late Joyce M.(née Mudron) and Oliver C. Baker. Stephanie attended Joliet grade schools (Pershing/Dirksen) and is a graduate of Joliet West High School, where she made many life-long friends and great memories.
She is the beloved mother of her firstborn son, Robert Stephen Brooks, he is a graduate of Governors State University. Her 2nd born child, Jacob Vassalla, excelled in football as well as in basketball. He graduated from Lincolnway High School and he is now attending Aurora University on an academic scholarship. Her 3rd child, her beautiful daughter, Annamarie Cruz, is doing amazing in school and basketball. Stephanie would try and make every game/ event she could cheering on all 3 of her beloved children. One of her greatest accomplishments was being a wonderful nana to her beautiful grandbaby, Elijah Stephen Brooks. He made her so happy. Stephanie also leaves behind her brother, Jeff Baker, many cousins, and very dear friends.
Everyone loved Stephanie. She made everyone smile while working at many Joliet-area staple restaurants: Heroes and Legends, Cemenos Pizza, and Jameson’s Pub. Stephanie will be long remembered for her warm outgoing personality and her ability to connect with anyone and everyone. These traits endeared her to so many people.
Visitation for Stephanie will be Sunday, November 7, 2021 from 12 Noon until 4 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet. Funeral services will be held Monday morning November 8, 2021 at Mt. Zion Tabernacle Church, 351 N. Ottawa St., Joliet where Stephanie will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until services start at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at a later date.
