Obituary of Judith A. Schweickert

Judith “Judy” Annetta (Bonucci) Schweickert, age 82, of Morris, IL, most recently of Senior Star at Weber Place of Romeoville, IL, passed away on Friday, November 5, 2021, at Lightways Hospice in Joliet, IL, with family by her side. Born September 3, 1939, in Spring Valley, IL, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Pearl (Querciagrossa) Bonucci. Judy graduated from Hall High School in Spring Valley in 1957 as the salutatorian of her class. She graduated from Northwestern University in 1961 with a degree in education. On May 6, 1961, she married her high school sweetheart, Richard “Dick” Schweickert, at Immaculate Conception Church in Spring Valley. They lived most of their married life in Morris. Judy taught fourth grade at Franklin School before staying home to raise her children.
Her interests and hobbies included cooking, traveling, playing bridge, going to craft fairs, and attending Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bulls games as well as school sporting events. She went to many games at Saratoga, Immaculate Conception School, and Morris Community High School. She also supported cheerleading, poms, and watched many dance recitals. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her grandchildren.
Judy is survived by her children Susan (Bruce) Matteson of Morris, IL, Michael (Susan) Schweickert of Fishers, IN, and Diane (Michael) Nekritz of Northbrook, IL; grandchildren Tyler (Katie) Matteson, Amy (Brian) Miers, Jason Matteson, Hannah Schweickert, Alyssa Nekritz, and Erica Nekritz; great-grandchild Braiden Miers; brothers-in-law Thomas (Ann) Schweickert, Gerald “Ozzie” (Barb Riva) Schweickert, William “Bill” (Barb) Schweickert, and Doug (Rory) Schweickert; and many nieces and nephews.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Louis Bonucci; and her husband, Richard “Dick”, who passed on February 24, 2011.
Visitation will be held for Judy on Monday, November 8, 2021, from 4pm-7pm at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 West US Route 6, Morris. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 9, at 10am at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 East Jackson Street, Morris. Face masks and social distancing are recommended. Interment will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Morris.
