Duane A. Ullrich, Sr.
Duane A. Ullrich, Sr., passed away peacefully at the age of 78, on Monday, November 15, 2021. He was born on September 1, 1943, the son of the late Earl and Ruth (nee Bethell) Ullrich. Duane was born and raised in New Lenox, was a graduate of Lincolnway High School, Class of 1961, and attended EMAC Business College. He retired from Rock Island Railroad and Panduit Corporation.
Duane has been enjoying his retirement since 2008, spending time with his family. He enjoyed working in the yard, playing cards and board games, and watching any of the Chicago sports teams. Duane loved being a husband, father and grandfather, and “G G Pa” more than anything. He will leave a void in the hearts of all who loved him.
Duane is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary (nee Houser) Ullrich; his son, Duane A. (Cristina) Ullrich, Jr.; daughter, Kari (Tim) Auth; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as his constant canine companion, “Penny”.
He is preceded by his parents and one brother, Laverne Ullrich.
Visitation for Duane A. Ullrich, Sr. will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America, 290 Turnpike Rd., Suite 5-315, Westborough, MA 01581, would be appreciated.
