Obituary of Denise B. Moran
Denise B. Moran, age 81, passed away on November 29, 2021, just 11 days after her beloved husband, Ray.
She was the only child of Eugene and Elsie Flanigan. Growing up in Aurora, Illinois, she attended Holy Angels School, Madonna High School, and St. Charles School of Nursing. While in nursing school, she went to visit the home of a classmate. It was there that she met her classmate’s brother, Ray. It was love at first sight. She always said he thought she was too young, but she chased him until she caught him. She married Ray Moran in 1960, and the city girl became a country wife. She was devoted to her husband and they had an inseparable bond throughout their 61 years of marriage. They raised four children, Tim, Maureen, Laurie and Gary. After raising her children, she returned to the workforce as an RN, working at St. Joseph Hospital on the cardiac floor. Her caring and empathetic personality made her excellent at her job, both as a mother and as a nurse.
A music lover, she enjoyed musicals and always played music in the house and car, singing along to the songs. Her faith was important to her. She was a member of a prayer group, forming friendships with the other women in the group. She loved sunsets, especially over the farm fields. She and Ray enjoyed traveling to visit their children and grandchildren, as well as trips to explore the beauty of nature. Their Alaskan cruise was a favorite. Denise had a wonderful Irish humor and memories of her laughter while sitting around the kitchen table are treasured. Her gentle spirit and thoughtful ways will be missed. But we know she is reunited with her husband and they are together for eternity.
Denise is survived by her loving children, Timothy (Marjorie) Moran of Kingston, WA, Maureen (Doug) Winterrose of Addison, IL, Laurie Light of Maynard, MA, and Gary (Leslie) Moran of Cumberland, ME; five adoring grandchildren, Brian, Eric and Daniel Winterrose and Sam and Rebecca Light; sisters-in-law Kathleen (the late Wayne) Fawley and Evelyn (Dale) Onderisin; one brother-in-law, William Moran; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded by her loving husband, Raymond Moran; and her parents.
